We’re proud to announce the opening of the forums at Morningside Community Church.   In an effort to expand our online presence and to also reach the e-generation, we extend our sincerest welcome to the church forums.   You may visit them by clicking on on this link at the bottom of the post.

Who is it for?

Anyone with a willingness to try out online communication, there are specific areas for generations and special areas can even be set up for small groups that request it.

Why do we need it/What will it accomplish?

Some goals of the forums:

  • reach out and share the good news of Jesus Christ to the online community,
  • support each other through offering  avenues of communication other than on Sunday,
  • provide enhanced means of being informed about things going on in the church,
  • collaboratively discuss the Bible, issues facing us, and anything else!

Where is it located?

You may also find links to the forums at the top of the site next to the Welcome from the Pastor link and also in the right side under “General”.

Finishing Strong

What:   A  fun and exciting new group for MEN

Who:   Anybody that wants to be a strong man…husband…father
Warning: NOT for those who want to get weaker with age!

When:   Thursday nights (starting on Jan. 25th) from approximately 9 – 10pm
(group will begin immediately after the worship team’s practice ends)

Where:   Morningside Community Church (exact room yet undecided)

Why:   Because men need other men to help them grow strong, stay strong and finish strong.    No matter how tough or determined you may be…you need other guys who will spot for you when you have to lift the heavy stuff!   We call it “accountability” and you will NOT be able to finish your life STRONG without it!   It’s as simple as that.

Cost:   The group is FREE, but we’ll be studying a book together that costs $10.

Contact:   Pastor Tim Bariteau (with any questions, or to join the group)

Facing Giants

At some point in our lives we will all face a giant!   Most likely, more than one.

A giant is a circumstance, a struggle, an issue in your life that seems too big to overcome.    Fear, stress, anxiety sets in and we too often give up instead of defeating the giants.

In this message, Pastor TJ Carlson, uses both the story of David and Goliath, as well as, clips from the new football movie, “Facing the Giants”, to show us how with God’s help we can defeat EVERY giant that breathes down our neck.

Study Guide – Questions to help you dig a little deeper in your own personal study or as a discussion starter for a small group ministry.

Spiritual Fitness

Almost everybody makes New Year’s resolutions.   Did you make any this year?   What were yours?   Most people will make various resolutions that have something to do with different areas of their life…family, faith, finances, and the most people category…FITNESS!

If you go into your local gym in January it will be packed.   But, by February it will be much less crowded.    That’s because we all decide to lose those extra pounds we gained during the holidays (beginning with the candy that we helped our kids eat after Halloween), so we make a New Year’s resolution to eat better and get more exercise.   We all do it, but most of us aren’t disciplined enough to stick with it past 2 or 3 weeks.

In this message Pastor Joe shows us that in the same way that our physical body needs a fitness program, our spiritual being needs one too.   In fact, the Apostle Paul says that even though a physical workout is important to keep us fit and healthy, a spiritual workout is far more important, much longer lasting and highly valuable to every area of our lives…but I’m getting ahead of myself.

Go ahead and check out the message to hear for yourself!   Don’t wait to get started on a simple, yet effective program that can change you…and everyone around you!
