The Tyranny of Christmas Traditions
I love the Christmas season. I love snow. I love Christmas trees. I love Christmas decorations. I love giving. And yes, I’ll admit, I love getting presents. The one thing about Christmas I haven’t loved in the past is the theme of “Christmas Traditions”.
I have attended women’s groups that emphasized the importance of having family traditions at Christmas. One woman’s family did a drama each year. The children all had their parts, the parents had their’s. It wouldn’t have been Christmas to them without a drama. Another woman’s family baked for at least a week to prepare all the Christmas goodies their tradition dictated. She was at an age that her daughters were begining to take over most of the baking.
